Eye-Fi, the global leader in wireless memory cards, has announced in a recent press release the availability of a new Windows desktop receiver for the Mobi card.
Eyefi Mobi transfers your pictures from your camera to your favorite iOS, Android, or Kindle device as you take them. The program works with Eyefi Cloud, a private, photo-centric cloud service, to make your shots instantly available on any Web-enabled device. Eyefi Mobi works like a regular SDHC card. While still in the Beta phase, the new desktop receiver will allow you to transfer your photos from the Eye-Fi Mobi card directly to your desktop via Wi-Fi connection.
This new feature comes to extend the simple camera-to-mobile photo and video transfer capabilities of the Mobi card, making it a reliable and easy to work with storage medium.
Matt DiMaria, CEO of Eye-Fi said that, 'Our customers love the ability to snap great pictures on a camera and instantly share from a phone or tablet, and now we're taking that experience one step further.'
'Now we're adding a simple, instant way to transfer to the desktop and make it easy for customers to get their photos on their computers to edit and archive,' he added.
For the moment, no further details have been offered regarding Eye-Fi's new desktop receiver price, but during the beta period, the receiver will be free to use for all customers. A beta version for Mac is also planned to be released soon.
